The food security situation of the district is minimal food insecure (phase I). More than 80% people of the district are able to meet their basic food needs. More than 50% HHs have food stock for more than 4 months in cluster A and up to 4 months in cluster B. The production of the maize crop was measured moderate (-16 %) due to the excessive rainfall in its sowing period but the production of paddy is normal (7 %). Normal employment opportunities are available, must of the people from the cluster A got money from the sale of cash crops and livestock products, road head markets are functional. More than 50 % HHs of the cluster B have the food stock sufficient for 2-3 months (only few from the remaining maize harvest and market purchases). People from the cluster B earn money at least NPR 5000/HHs from the sale of NTFP and woolen products in this period and Normal employment opportunities are available due to the government fiscal year closing period. People have out-migrated to India and other countries as tradition in all over the district. Market food stock is available but the local markets are far from the each community.  In overall, the food security situation of the district (Cluster A & B) is generally food secure in this period.

 

People will have minimal winter crop harvest in the coming cycle. Market stock will be normal as the motor roads will be functional around the cluster A and deteriorate market stock will be available in Cluster B. Minimal employment opportunity will be available due to the rainy season. People will have earning from the sale of cash crops and few NTFPs like mushroom, remaining YARCHAGUMBA and livestock products. The overall food security situation of the district will be generally food secure in the coming cycle also.
